World's Largest Buffalo

A good friend, Shera, FINALLY moved back to North Dakota (in the last year, she's lived in 4 different states while she finished up grad school!) ~ so we met in Jamestown to visit the buffalo and have some dinner. Jax was disappointed when our day ended and kept turning around in his carseat, looking for Shera's car and saying "hayyo?" I'm glad 2 of my favorite people like each other so much! We had to take a picture on the train for Grandpa Scott. Afterwards, I realized it coulda been a redo of my senior pictures, only with a baby added in!
We checked out most of the buildings in the village with the buffalo and Jaxon was playing with the jail cell door and so, out of curiosity, I put him in there and closed the door. I figured we'd get a cute picture out of the deal and did NOT expect him to freak out like he did. After I took him out (after taking photos, of course), we had a very serious talk about how I better not ever see him in a jail cell again. If I'm lucky, he's traumatized enough that that won't be an issue. **Note that every building that we went into after this, he would start screaming if he thought we were going to stuff him into another jail cell**

Deal me in!
Pony ride! Oh my goodness, he loved this thing!
I love this attitude showdown!

He looks so tiny!
One of his new favorite games is to be chased. :)
It's still so weird to see photos of him standing and walking..

Wahpeton Zoo Adventure

With Josh gone to Texas this week, Jax and I filled up our social calendar! On Wednesday, we went to the Wahpeton zoo with my friend Katie and her 2 little ones, McKenna and Sophie. Jaxon and McKenna are so funny to watch. On the way to Wahpeton, they fought over a blanket most of the way. Jax sat between to the 2 girls and was trying to play with baby Sophie in her carseat and pulled her blanket away. McKenna, being the protective big sister, tried to get it back for her. After we checked out the zoo, we picnicked in the park. It was a fun day, the weather was perfect for a zoo adventure. This goat helped himself to our leftover duck food, Jax's cereal puffs, and Kenna's animal crackers. The kids thought it was hilarious at how the goat would try to climb through the fence to get at their food.
We also fed donkeys. McKenna wasn't too sure about them getting close to her hand (though she had good reason, she got pecked by a duck while we were feeding those), but Jax could have cared less. He tried to stick his hand into the donkey's mouth. Repeatedly. And then would squeal and laugh. I wish this kid would develop at least a LITTLE fear. Is that too much to ask?
Feeding the ducks ~ we tried feeding the swimming ones after the one in the grass tried to eat McKenna.
Pre-zoo snack.

Jax and Chase

Todd and Chase stopped by tonight to drop off some clothes for Jax and grill out with us. This was the first time the boys have played together in a long time. The last time, Jax wasn't crawling and so they sat on the couch and stole each other's pacifier and fought over books.

This time around was a whole new ball of wax. They got along and it was a lot of fun to watch them together. We played in the yard for a little bit while dinner was on the grill. We're going to get together again soon so the boys can play in the sprinkler and the pool! :)

The picture where Jax is standing on the steps alone ~ he feels like since he's got the hang of the standing/walking thing that it's ok for him to try walking down (and sometimes up) the steps. He will walk down 2, crawl back up them, and then crawl down all of them. Unless you are too close, then he will try to keep walking down them and reach for you. I hope he goes back to just crawling down them soon.

Jax and Daddy

Please note the grin on Jaxon's face (and the focus, I suppose on Joshua's). The boys were watching the NASCAR race.

More Adventures

You know, I was thinking about all the adventures that Jaxon has been on since he was born and by the time he's 4 we're going to have trouble finding new things for him to do! Below are pictures of his first horseback ride and first 4-wheeler ride, both taken at Dannie & Sharon's earlier this month.
